Biography |

Dennis J. Naas, BS, PMP® Principal, ProDev Consulting Services Dennis received his BS in biology from Central Michigan University in 1979. He joined International Research and Development Corporation (IRDC, now MPI Research) as a Research Associate in Acute and Special Toxicology and subsequently became supervisor of the Subchronic Toxicology and Report Preparation groups. He moved to WIL Research Laboratories in 1984 to establish their acute toxicology competency, quickly adding the direction of subchronic and special toxicology studies as well. In 1990, he was granted the additional responsibility of managing the General Toxicology group and development of the inhalation toxicology capability at WIL. He was named Assistant Director of Toxicology in 1992, responsible for managing a staff of 35 as well continuing nonclinical testing program design, interpretation and consultation, and was instrumental as WIL significantly expanded their facilities and capabilities. Dennis launched AccuTox Consulting Services in 1997, a highly successful independent concern offering experienced and comprehensive nonclinical toxicology consulting services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, and contract research industries. Having worked in toxicology for over 22 years, Dennis decided to apply the technical and interpersonal skills he acquired during this time to the direction and management of multidisciplinary drug development teams in a large pharmaceutical environment. In December 2001, Dennis joined the Global Project Management group at Pfizer La Jolla as an Associate Director. During his tenure there he was project manager and leader on several projects spanning the drug development continuum from discovery candidate selection to late-stage development, working on new chemical entities, in-licensed candidates and product extension projects. Armed with this additional experience, he launched ProDev Consulting Services in 2006. Dennis obtained his certification from the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional® (PMP®) in July of 2005 and is a member of the Society of Toxicology (SOT) where he served on the Committee on Diversity Initiatives. He is also a member of the American College of Toxicology, the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Drug Information Association (DIA). Dennis was an Adjunct Professor in the Biology Department at Ashland University (1985-1997) and has been a guest lecturer numerous times on the subject of the responsible use of animals in research, as well as on the subject of ethics and risk management in a ‘for-profit’ environment. He has authored and co-authored numerous presentations and publications relating to the field of toxicology, and has regularly participated in specialized continued education in toxicology, project management and Good Laboratory Practices.
